About Us
Our Mission
We are dedicated to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and play-based learning environment that respects each child’s individuality and fosters their growth into confident, capable learners. Through strong partnerships with families and the wider community, we promote kindness, respect, and cultural understanding. Our skilled educators are committed to continuous learning and ethical practice, ensuring high-quality education and care in a safe, supportive community.
Our Philosophy
Children
We strongly advocate for and respect the rights of every child. We believe each child is a capable and competent learner who deserves to be valued as a unique individual.
Our approach supports children in developing a strong sense of well-being, helping them grow into confident, secure, and thoughtful members of our learning community.
We recognise that every child is an essential part of our community. The connections between children, their families, and the wider community are celebrated, nurtured, and actively strengthened.
Families
We build respectful and collaborative partnerships with all families, ensuring they feel valued and actively involved in decisions that support their child’s learning journey.
We are committed to upholding and promoting family values such as kindness, respect, honesty, and inclusivity within our community.
We advocate for families from diverse and complex backgrounds, helping them access community services, resources, and programs, while respecting child protection laws and responsibilities.
Curriculum
We support each child’s learning through a play-based approach that nurtures their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and overall well-being.
Our learning experiences are inspired by children’s ideas, interests, and personal stories, fostering their skills and enthusiasm as lifelong learners.
Learning environments are carefully designed to scaffold growth, promote sustained shared thinking, and encourage collaboration.
Our outdoor spaces inspire a love of nature and foster awareness and care for the environment.
Educators
Our educators create and maintain safe, nurturing environments where every child feels respected and has the time and space to develop a strong sense of identity.
They engage in critical reflection and ongoing professional learning to continually enhance the quality of teaching and learning, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
Educators are lifelong learners who grow alongside children, families, and colleagues.
Through intentional and purposeful teaching practices, they build solid foundations for children’s successful learning journeys.
We advocate for high-quality early childhood education and care, fostering a culture of ethical practice, social justice, and equity.
Our educators follow the principles of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the National Quality Standards to guide their work.
Community
We are committed to fostering a connected community where every member feels respected, included, and valued.
We honour and respect the diverse cultures within our kindergarten community, including the First Nations People. We actively seek to collaborate with cultural leaders and groups to deepen our understanding and appreciation.
Our commitment extends to promoting the value and contributions of our kindergarten within the wider community.
Committee of Management
The Committee of Management works closely with all stakeholders to uphold the kindergarten’s guiding principles and values. They ensure that daily operations are ethical and responsible, providing clear direction for delivering a high-quality service.
Acacia prides itself on the strong, positive relationship between educators and the Committee. Open, ongoing communication fosters a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration.
