Acacia Avenue Preschool Policy Review Schedule
On 28th August 2024, at the monthly meeting of the Committee of Management, a proposal was put forward with regard to changing the preschool’s policy review schedule. This was to better align with the review schedule set by ELAA (Early Learning Association of Australia) and enable improved operational efficiency for the Committee of Management and Acacia Avenue Preschool staff.
The committee voted in favor of the proposal, with agreement that the change would be implemented from the beginning of 2025. As such, the review date on the current policy documents may no longer be accurate. If you would like to see the new policy review schedule, there is a hard copy available in the Policy Folder at the preschool. Alternatively, please contact the Committee of Management General Member (Policies) who can arrange a copy of the schedule to be sent to you.

What has changed about kinder?
Is my child eligible?
- Children must turn 3 before 30 April in the year they attend to qualify for 3YO kindergarten.
- Families can only receive free kindergarten from one service (e.g., long day care or sessional kinder).
- Check your child’s eligibility and start date here:
https://www.vic.gov.au/give-your-child-the-best-start-in-life
- Children born January to April can choose to start 3YO kinder either the year they turn 3 or the year they turn 4.
- Due to staffing rules, children start attending kindergarten only after their 3rd birthday — some may start partway through Term 1.
- Children turning six late in the year may attend 4YO kinder that year and start school the following year.
